BSI Webinar – Protecting Client Information: ISO 27001 and the Legal Community
April 20th 2pm-3pm ET

The American Bar Association’s (ABA) ethics rules require lawyers to apply a standard of care to ensure client data remain secure. With the extensive use of electronic data and communications, protecting the transmissions and storage of this privileged information from inadvertent and unauthorized release as well as deliberate interception and diversion has become one of the most important concerns for law firms of all sizes.

The first step to securing information is to understand how data flows through an organization, who handles it, who should have access and the processes that determine that access and protection.

ISO/IEC 27001 provides the steps to implement a system of information management that weaves security across the various departments within an organization, ensuring that adequate due diligence has been undertaken to protect clients’ privileged information.

Join us for a discussion with George Huff, Jr., Esq., the Special Advisor on the ABA’s Standing Committee on Disaster Response and Preparedness. George was also appointed by the US Department of Commerce as Disaster Resilience Fellow for Business Continuity for NIST’s Community Resilience Program and is the founder of the Continuity Project. John DiMaria, BSI’s Global Information Security Champion will join George as they review how ISO/IEC 27001 can offer the legal community the framework necessary to protect client information.
