OVERVIEW: In this Medico-Legal Program, we will examine advances beyond the pejorative and sometimes simplistic term “malingering” and instead, detail evidence based research so to better understand both conscious and unconscious motives for poor performance (“feigning”) in the context of a medical legal examination. Truly expert presenters will review an array of conceptual theories, techniques and strategies for detecting and understanding the meaning of non credible performance on performance, symptom, and embedded validity measures of cognition and psychopathology. This non partisan program is intended to move forward our ability to practice critically and mindfully within a medical legal arena.
