TORONTO – ClaimsPro, Canada’s largest adjusting and claims management company, has teamed up with Opta, SCM Insurance Services’ analytic arm, to offer clients specialized Catastrophic (CAT) Exposure Services following the recent events in Fort McMurray.

ClaimsPro is leveraging Opta’s analytics and machine learning technology to deliver geo-coded mapping with pre and post loss imagery on customers’ entire books of business. High resolution mapping helps identify changes to insured areas as well as an initial indication of damage. This is an invaluable tool to insurers considering the scope and nature of the events in Fort McMurray. Full navigation capabilities provide geo-coded property information delivered through iClarify™ including carrier-provided details such as Coverage A, Contents Limit, Attachment Point, Policy Limits, Deductibles, and more.

“This is the most technologically advanced project we’ve ever worked on,” said Greg McCutcheon, President of Opta. “Opta is utilizing state-of-the-art technology to provide digital access to restricted areas, in hopes of speeding up the claims process. Ultimately, we hope this initiative will help people resume their day-to-day lives as quickly as possible.”

As of Saturday, May 7, Opta’s assessment of the Fort McMurray wildfires confirmed detailed estimates of significant damage on 2,243 properties. Opta’s Fort McMurray CAT solution is continuously being updated as additional information becomes available.

Opta’s assessments include information pertaining to Insurance-to-Value/Replacement Cost, year of build, square footage, roof type, architectural style, number of storeys, exterior wall type, foundation type, number of bathrooms, number of kitchens, garage type, and if basements are finished.

“As the situation stabilizes around Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, ClaimsPro is focused on providing the best service possible during this extremely trying time,” began Ross Betteridge, President of ClaimsPro. “Our clients know they can rely on ClaimsPro to provide the exemplary service they have come to expect even during times of unprecedented loss.”
