SCM’s Companies Deploy Significant Resources for Services to Fort McMurray

May 6, 2016   by SCM Insurance Services

SCM Insurance Services has mobilized resources across all of its seven companies to support our clients in light of the developing tragedy in Fort McMurray. Our hearts and prayers go out to all affected residents and business in the region. SCM is uniquely positioned to assist Fort McMurray thanks to our comprehensive suite of solutions, and we have readied our group of companies to provide support to Fort McMurray and the surrounding Wood Buffalo region as wildfires continue to devastate the area.

Leading the efforts, ClaimsPro has deployed its Catastrophe (CAT) Response Team. Although ClaimsPro had to evacuate its employees from the Fort McMurray location, we have set up command centres in Edmonton and the surrounding 10 branches in Alberta. Xpera and ESM, its security division, have resources to provide site monitoring, patrol, and security in the region. Pario Engineering and Environmental Sciences is deploying engineers and environmental consultants to conduct structural and environmental damage assessments. Opta is offering use of iClarify™, its cutting-edge property insurance valuation and validation tool, to provide ITV valuations for properties in Fort McMurray remotely. IPG is gathering data and mapping exposures for its clients and will be providing on-site support for its London market clients. As SCM’s provider of risk management oriented products and services, RMS has its rmsQuantify™ division ready to address the need for third party, non-vested interest appraisals of residential or commercial properties post-loss. Lastly, SCM Health Solutions has access to psychological counseling services available to the region and impacted citizens.

Though SCM is now a company with 2500 employees and more than 150 locations across Canada, we began as a single branch in Edmonton, Alberta. We have roots here, and we share Alberta’s shock as this situation continues to develop. SCM, both on a corporate level and through its employees, has pledged monetary support to the Red Cross relief effort.
