The Canadian Automobile Association Insurance Company (Ontario) has installed Guidewire Software Inc.’s InsuranceSuite software for its personal auto and property lines of business, the company announced.

Foster City, Calif.-based Guidewire recently announced that as of Dec. 1, all 40 retail locations of CAA Insurance (Ontario), and its call centre north of Toronto in Markham, were using InsuranceSuite.

InsuranceSuite includes three software applications —  dubbed PolicyCenter, BillingCenter and ClaimCenter — all of which are available separately.

“Following the conclusion of a 14-month implementation project in which all InsuranceSuite systems were completed in parallel, including many external integrations, CAA Insurance is now in production with InsuranceSuite for both their personal lines of business, which include auto and property,” Guidewire stated in a press release.

CAA Insurance (Ontario) is owned by CAA South Central Ontario. Its products include auto, home and business insurance.

Other recently-announced Guidewire customers include The Guarantee Company of North America, which is using ClaimCenter.

Another Canadian firm using ClaimCenter is Princeton, Ont.-based Frank Cowan Company, which provides specialty insurance to the broader public sector, including municipalities, education and healthcare. Guidewire announced last August that Frank Cowan is using ClaimCenter.

ClaimCenter lets users enter new claims, using wizards. It is also designed to segment and assign claims to professionals based on rules, and to track payments, litigation and negotiation.

Features of PolicyCenter, designed for property & casualty insurance firms, include product definition, underwriting, quoting, binding, endorsements and renewals.

“PolicyCenter applies rules-driven underwriting guidelines to decide clear-cut cases without human involvement,” according to Guidewire’s product brochure. “Exception cases requiring judgment are routed to an underwriter with expertise in the pertinent line of business, risk type, geography or agency relationship.”

Guidewire claims PolicyCenter can help underwriters “better assess” risks because they can get a full view of an account, including transactional history and losses and payments, on tabs of the same screen.

The third module of InsuranceSuite, BillingCenter, handles payment plans and agent commissions.

“Many systems require that a policy be reissued if billing or payment plan changes are made,” Guidewire states in its brochure. “BillingCenter lets you make changes quickly, at any time — including invoice frequency, due date and payment method — without having to reissue the policy. Even if a policyholder is just thinking about changing their payment schedule, your staff can input requested changes and preview the impact with the customer.”

In a press release Dec. 21, Guidewire stated that CAA Ontario is using InsuranceSuite to “increase analytical capabilities” and to “more easily integrate” with third-party software.
