The Ontario insurance market’s growing demand for bilingual loss adjusting services on large and complex losses in Quebec has prompted Charles Taylor Adjusting (CTA) to open a satellite office in Montreal.

Charles Taylor Adjusting has 69 offices in 28 countries

Operating as a satellite to CTA’s Toronto office, the new office “will enable CTA to offer a loss adjusting service in Quebec on risks underwritten by insurers inside and out of the province,” notes a statement from the company, an international network of 69 offices in 28 countries.

CTA provides loss adjusting services across energy, marine, aviation, property, casualty and special risks, along with average adjusting services for ship owners. The business primarily focuses on larger and more complex commercial losses arising from major insured incidents and claims, the company reports.

The new office is in line with CTA’s growth strategy, which seeks to expand the company’s office network into geographies where there is a demand from global and local insurers for international loss adjusting services, notes the statement.

Most recently, CTA opened adjusting offices in Rome this year and in Rio de Janeiro last year, as well as appointed senior loss adjusters to expand its services in Calgary, Toronto, New York, Doha, Singapore, Sydney and the United Kingdom.

“There is a growing demand in Quebec for loss adjusters with the ability to handle large and complex losses,” suggests Michael Guy, vice president and Toronto branch manager, and senior loss adjuster for CTA.

The new satellite office will provide CTA an “adjusting presence on the ground as required, backed up by the support of our Toronto office. We believe this puts us in a good position to offer a high quality loss adjusting service to insurers in Ontario, Quebec and international markets underwriting local and international risks,” Guy adds.

Pierre-Luc Thiffeault – a fully licensed adjuster in Quebec who has experience handing claims in that market – has been appointed as the designated loss adjuster for the Montreal office. Fully bilingual in English and French, Thiffeault has more than nine years of loss adjusting experience on large and complex property and casualty losses in both Ontario and Quebec. Based primarily in CTA’s Toronto office, he will travel to Montreal as required to handle claims.

With the addition of the new office, CTA now has six offices across Canada, namely in Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, St. John’s, Toronto and Vancouver.
