SCM Insurance Services announced Tuesday that Bob Fitzgerald has been appointed chief executive officer, succeeding founder and CEO Larry Shumka, who will become the corporation’s first-ever executive chairman.

Fitzgerald – most recently the president of SCM’s adjusting and claims management firm ClaimsPro – will manage the transition together with Shumka throughout this year, SCM said in its statement.

Fitzgerald has 30 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry and has held senior executive roles with major organizations in the field. He served as ClaimsPro’s president since 2011, and will continue in that role until a permanent successor is announced.

“I’m also looking forward to meeting with our customers and our great team of employees over the coming weeks to share ideas for the future.”
