RIMS Community Service Day, expected to attract more than 100 risk and insurance professionals in support of the Child Care Resource Center (CCRC), kicks off the 2013 RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Los Angeles later today.

The Zurich-sponsored event, running from 8:30 am to 3 pm, will see risk and insurance professionals assembling puppet stages and classroom storyboards for the CCRC, notes a statement from the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS), a global not-for-profit organization representing more than 3,500 entities worldwide.

Funded primarily through state and federal grants, CCRC has 20-plus facilities in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties that work with parents, child care professionals, community members, businesses and government agencies to promote higher standards in child care and early education.

“It’s wonderful to see the risk management community refocus their energy and demonstrate such an enormous level of commitment and compassion for those less fortunate,” says Deborah Luthi, immediate past president of RIMS.

“Giving back to the communities we live and work in is something that is important to Zurich and its employees,” adds Dan Riordan, CEO of Zurich Global Corporate in North America.

RIMS is being held in Los Angeles from Apr. 21 to 24. The industry’s premier educational and networking event attracts some 10,000 risk and insurance professionals, business executives with risk management interests, brokers, insurers and service providers. It offers over 120 educational sessions, keynote presentations, special events and more than 400 exhibitors.

Next year’s RIMS will be held in Denver.
