Telus, Intact offer telematics for commercial fleets

Companies using a vehicle monitoring service from Telus Corp. can get discounts on commercial auto insurance from Intact, Telus suggested Thursday.

The Vancouver-based telecommunications carrier has announced Telus Fleet Tracker, which provides information “like the location of every vehicle; idling times; vehicle speed; how the vehicles are being operated; and whether a vehicle requires preventative maintenance to avoid costly repairs.”

Telus stated Thursday it has teamed up with Intact Insurance and Markham, Ont.-based Fleet Complete, a vendor of fleet, asset and mobile workforce management products.

“my Fleet Solution offers commercial customers an industry-leading fleet telematics solution,” stated Alain Lessard, Intact’s senior vice-president of commercial lines, in a Telus release. “my Fleet Solution customers will get valuable insights into their fleet to help them better manage and improve their costs and operations, and provide access to Intact Insurance’s loss prevention services.”

It includes an “online dashboard” which lets customers view information including braking, acceleration and speeding.

Companies using Telus Fleet Tracker with my Fleet Solution “will qualify for an enrolment discount on their commercial fleet insurance with Intact Insurance, and can qualify for potential additional savings based on their fleet’s performance,” Telus stated.
