Monique F. Leroux has been elected president and CEO of Desjardins Group.
She is the first woman elected as president and CEO of Desjardins Group, and currently serves as senior executive vice president and CFO.
Leroux will officially assume her new position following Desjardins Group’s annual general meeting on Mar. 29 in Quebec City.
“I am thrilled and, above all, honoured to be following in the footsteps of a man who has left a lasting impression on the destiny of this leading group of ours,” Leroux said in a company release.
She has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network of Toronto. In addition, she was named one of Canada’s Top 25 Women to Watch in 2008 by the Women’s Post.

Jeremy D. Cooke has been appointed to a new position as global head of market relationship management with Marsh.
Based in London, Cooke will support Joe McSweeny, president of the U.S./Canada Division; Alex Moczarski, president of the international division; and Sandy Vietor, president of Marsh’s global specialties segment.
“In most markets, Marsh is the largest broker in terms of premium volume and I look forward to ensuring we turn our position of strength into the delivery of world class solutions and services to our clients,” Cooke said in a release.
Cooke will also head MRM within the International Division. Adam Kagan has been appointed to head MRM for U.S./Canada and will report to Cooke.
