Canadian and foreign federally regulated property and casualty insurers can now upload certain corporate returns and their amendments to a secure Web portal on the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI)’s Web site.
The forms that can now be uploaded directly to OSFI include OSFI-57 (Return of Corporate Information) and OSFI-513 (Return of Officers, Auditor and Appointed Actuary).
The user guide may be downloaded from OSFI’s Web site at www.osfi-bsif.gc.ca. After clicking on the ‘Site Map’ tab at the top of OSFI’s home page, the relevant link can be found under the heading: Filing Instructions, Returns and Penalties.
The user guide contains mandatory file naming conventions for returns that can be found in Appendix 1 under Corporate Returns file name.

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) has issued an advisory encouraging policyholders to protect their vehicles from overland flooding.
Much of the Red River valley has been affected by overland flood. The Province of Manitoba has warned that the flood may reach Winnipeg by early April, before moving further north.
MPI is cautioning policyholders to move vehicles, including snowmobiles, recreational vehicles and motorcycles to higher ground so that floodwaters don’t overtake them.
The insurer also warns that floodwaters can quickly wash out roads and bridges. Soft road surfaces may cause loss of control of the vehicle, thus extreme caution should be used when travelling on water-covered roads.
