An Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) steering committee is recommending full adoption by all auto insurers of the Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) electronic system for processing auto insurance health claims by Mar. 31, 2010.
A number of stakeholder groups, including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), are currently reviewing the steering committee’s recommendations.
It is expected the health care coalition, which represents health care facilities on FSCO’s HCAI working group, will support a rollout to health care facilities starting in April 2010, IBC notes.
The list of current insurer participants is available at http://www.fsco.gov.on.ca/english/insurance/auto/hcai.asp
The health care facilities adoption list will available at http://www.fsco.gov.on.ca/english/insurance/auto/hcai.asp once the recommendation to proceed is provided to FSCO by the health care coalition.

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has launched its Facebook Fan Page.
The page is intended to provide the association with an opportunity for more in-depth interaction with members and consumers. Furthermore, the association says, the site is a good place to go for adding thoughts about a Twitter post – which are copied to Facebook – or leave a note for other fans.
The association is asking anybody who is a member of the networking site to add themselves as a fan of the page. This will help to “unlock” certain fan page features, which are closed until the page has a set number of fans.
