Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) have launched The Watershed Awards.
The Watershed Awards recognize Canadian municipalities that have taken proactive measures to reduce their vulnerability to storm and wastewater damage. The awards will be part of FCM’s Sustainable Community Awards, which, for the past decade, have recognized the best in municipal sustainability.
“The Watershed Awards will recognize infrastructure investments and urban development policies and practices that demonstrate leadership by forward-thinking communities,” according to a joint release.
The awards will be presented on May 28 at the 73rd Annual Conference and Municipal Expo at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.
The national recipient will be honoured as part of FCM’s new Awards of Excellence Gala evening, on Sunday May 30, during the FCM annual conference.

Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) is once again rewarding vehicle owners who go green, offering a 20% rebate to owners of hybrid and qualifying fuel-efficient vehicles on their 2009 insurance and registration costs.
Roughly 10,750 vehicle owners will be rewarded with an average rebate of about $195 this year.
