Neil Parkinson, former national leader of KPMG Canada’s insurance industry practice, has been elected to the board of directors of Genworth MI Canada Inc., Genworth announced last Wednesday.

Investors holding 99.61% of Genworth’s shares voted for Parkinson, Genworth reported in a press release announcing the results of its annual general meeting, held Wednesday. Genworth provides mortgage default insurance to residential mortgage lenders.

Parkinson is also on the board of directors of Gore Mutual Insurance Company. Parkinson was lead presenter in 2012 of a three-part enterprise risk management for members companies of the Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (PACICC).

Parkinson was also chair of the Insurance Auditors Advisory Committee for the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada from 2010 to May 2016. Parkinson joined KPMG in 1988.

From 2007 until 2017, Parkinson was a member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board’s Insurance Accounting Task Force. He is also chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board of Governors of the University of Guelph.
