Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has appointed Jamie Mullarkey as head of property and energy for Canada, replacing Yvonne Steiner.

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, which writes commercial primary insurance in Canada, targets large and mid-sized organizations.

Steiner, who joined Swiss Re in 2007, has left the company, Swiss Re said Tuesday.

Mullarkey, a British national, is re-locating from Windsor, Connecticut to Toronto. He was previously underwriting team leader, Northeast.

In his new role, Mullarkey is leading the property and energy underwriting teams in Vancouver and Toronto.

In Canada, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ coverages include financial and professional services, marine, engineering and construction and aviation.

Worldwide, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions target markets include wind energy producers, for whom the carrier covers marine engineering and liability risks, among others.

About 11% of Swiss Re’s premiums worldwide came from corporate solutions during the first half of 2018, Swiss Re reported earlier. Nearly half (46%) came from property and casualty reinsurance and 38% from life and health reinsurance.

Mullarkey joined Swiss Re corporate solutions in 2011. He has a degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Penn.

Steiner’s LinkedIn profile indicates she is head of global specialty lines for RSA Canada. Before joining Swiss Re, she had been Pacific regional underwriter for boiler and machinery for GCAN Insurance Co.

RSA acquired GCAN in 2011.
