Munich Re has added to the industry’s risk research toolbox—creating a virtual map of the world’s natural hazard zones. The company launched this year’s Globe of Natural Hazards as a multi-media DVD that lets users find out the degree of exposure to hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural hazards for anywhere in the world. The information can help clients make underwriting decisions and assists the industry in developing new insurance solutions for developing areas like offshore wind farms and geothermal plants, notes Torsten Jeworrek, Munich Re board member, in a company statement.
