IBAO networks with Facebook

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has added a Facebook fan page to it’s line-up of social media products.

The Facebook account is part of a wider campaign – which includes Twitter and a blog – by the IBAO to further encourage member and customer interaction.

The IBAO is developing a best practices guide, to help users understand how the online community interacts; to read the guide, "http://www.Tinyurl.com/yk7rqsc.com".

 RCCAQ Launches Ads

The Quebec brokers association, the Regroupment des cabinets de courtage d’assurance du Quebec, plans to air four television ads nationwide.

They have set aside $750,000 for a campaign that they hope will give brokers a more positive image and make the country aware of the benefits of buying insurance from a broker.

Rate comparison launches in Ontario

"http://www.Ratesupermakret.ca" – an online mortgage, credit card and life insurance quote site – has expanded it’s options for rate comparison.

The website now allows users in Ontario to compare rates for car, home, condo and tenant insurance. These services will be available throughout Canada shortly.

Managers show new tools

The Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) underwriters team will show brokers new services and applications available on their website. The tools will be unveiled at SGI’s broker convention on March 19-20 at TCU Place, Saskatoon’s arts and convention centre, where hours will be credited to brokers for attending meetings regarding risk management, broker ethics and team leadership.

All members of SGI Canada, Coachman Insurance and the Insurance Co. of P.E.I are invited and must register by March 8.

 Annual symposium sets agenda

The IBC Financial Affairs Symposium agenda for this year will include federal regulator’s minimum capital test changes, internal modeling, cat risks, financial reporting and taxes.

The symposium, scheduled for April 22 in Toronto, has a new addition to it’s agenda this year, with a panel of chief financial officers discussing "What keeps you up at night." The discussion will be led by Swiss Re CFO, Sharon Ludlow; the panel of CFOs includes Dominion of Canada CFO, Doug Hogan, and Chubb Canada CFO, Grant McEwan.
