“Burns & Wilcox Canada has shown significant, rising revenue over the last five years, despite a relatively challenging market. Expansion into Vancouver was the next step in our strategic long-term growth plans,” said Alan Jay Kaufman, chairman, president, and CEO of H.W. Kaufman Group and its subsidiary Burns & Wilcox, in a statement.

Patrick Treacy is joining Burns & Wilcox Canada as manager for Western Canada in the area of marine insurance. Treacy has 48 years of industry experience and was most recently president of his own brokerage, Treacy Insurance Brokers Ltd., which specializes in commercial marine and transportation coverage.

Nathan Rose also joins the managing general agency (MGA) and specializes in non-marine coverage. He transferred from Kaufman-owned Chesterfield Insurance Brokers, a Lloyd’s of London broker in the U.K.

The Vancouver team will report directly to Jodie Kaufman Davis, corporate vice president and managing director of Burns & Wilcox Canada.

“Our goal in this Western expansion was to locate the new office in downtown Vancouver, near our retail broker partners in order to respond quickly to their needs,” said Kaufman Davis. “Now that the office has opened, we are actively recruiting top insurance professionals to join our team in growing our local footprint.”

This is the MGA’s second expansion in 2017 after opening an office in Montreal in January. The Vancouver office will specialize in P&C, professional liability, environmental liability, construction, ocean and inland marine, and personal insurance.
