The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has established an industry-led task force for general insurance, chaired by the Deputy President of CII and involving senior figures across the spectrum of general insurance to look at all aspects of professional standards.
The task force will oversee the following issues:

  • It will look to mould a new GI Qualifications Framework, bringing in a new and more relevant set of exams in an evolutionary fashion, after extensive consultation with practitioners.
  • The project will match qualifications to industry needs and job roles, and provide an increased choice of technical subjects, together with an improved management offering.
  • There will be a sharper focus on core disciplines such as broking, underwriting and claims, in order to provide the core knowledge and skills needed across today’s diverse industry.
  • The improved units within the framework will be designed to comply with educational best practice and will meet, and ideally exceed, externally validated exam standards set by the government’s educational regulator.
