client_meetingIBAO has launched a series of e-learning courses on cannabis in advance of full legalization on Oct. 17, 2018.

“As this is new territory for everyone in the industry, it’s important to us that brokers are knowledgeable and well informed when it comes to every impact cannabis legalization will have on insurance,” IBAO CEO Colin Simpson said in a news release.

The courses, offered in three different versions for personal lines, commercial lines and a longer option that includes information on both, are free to IBAO members and available to non-members for a small fee.

IBAO has created handouts on cannabis legalization that are included in the courses and also available to members in the association’s resource library. Topics include:

  • Cannabis talking points for brokers
  • Risk management checklist for broker and client
  • Risks of impaired driving brochure
  • Sample HR policy

“It’s essential that we deliver the most up-to-date information on this topic to brokers because of the vital role they will play in educating the public on the insurance implications of cannabis legalization,” said Kevin O’Hare, IBAO’s education supervisor and instructional designer.
