awardVoting has opened for the 10th annual Aviva Community Fund, which will donate more than $1 million to charitable initiatives across Canada.

“For the last 10 years, the Aviva Community Fund has opened the competition for online voting because we strongly believe Canadians who live, work and play in these communities should decide which ideas win funding,” Colm Holmes, president and CEO of Aviva Canada, said in a news release.

From Sept. 25 to Oct. 4, Canadians can go online and cast 10 votes to support ideas for community initiatives. They can choose 10 different ideas, or use all of their votes to support one cause.

Two different categories are open for voting:

Small Ideas
The top 50 ideas with the most votes will each receive $10,000.

Big Ideas
The top 10 ideas will proceed to a judging round. Three will be selected for a $100,000 prize, and the remaining seven will receive $15,000 each.

“We’re proud to fund and celebrate moments—big and small—that bring people together,” Holmes said. “I encourage all Canadians to get involved in their communities and help a good cause by voting for their favourite ideas today.”
