XL Catlin appoints new CEO for Canadian insurance business

XL Catlin has appointed Urs Uhlmann CEO and country manager for Canada, leading the insurer’s regional business strategy and Canadian insurance operations.

“[Uhlmann’s] strategic and critical thinking skills and proven track record for growing commercial insurance businesses will help us put XL Catlin at the top of the list of Canadian insurers,” Joe Tocco, chief executive of XL Catlin’s North American division, said in a news release.

Uhlmann will be based in Toronto and will oversee the insurer’s other Canadian offices in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

Most recently, Uhlmann spent five years as CEO of Zurich Canada’s Global Corporate division.
