Zurich names new CEO for Canada

Copyright: 123RF.com/dolgachovSaad Mered has been named CEO and chief agent of Zurich Canada, effective Oct. 1, 2018.

Mered is currently Zurich’s chief claims officer. He will report to Zurich North America CEO Kathleen Savio in his new role.

“Saad’s knowledge of Zurich and our people, his proven ability to foster valuable relationships with customers and brokers, and his drive for innovation and execution will continue to position our important Canadian business to deliver top-tier performance,” Savio said in a release.

Mered joined Zurich in 2008 as CEO for Zurich Middle East. He became CEO, general insurance, for the Middle East and Africa in 2010, before being appointed chief claims officer in 2014.

Mered will succeed David Levinson as CEO for Canada. Levinson will work with Mered during the transition period, before returning to the United States to explore other opportunities with Zurich.
