From FSCO to FSRA: The Future of Regulation in Ontario (LIVE WEBINAR)

by Insurance Institute of Ontario
January 19, 2017
Live webinar - Jan. 19 only

There’s a new regulatory body coming. How will it impact the insurance industry in Ontario?

In November 2016, Ontario’s Minister of Finance announced that the province was proceeding with plans to establish a new Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), as recommended by an advisory committee appointed by the ministry. The over-arching goal of this new body is to foster a more innovative and dynamic business environment. It’s a positive step, but there are changes ahead for Ontario insurance regulation.

Join us on January 19 via webinar to hear from a panel of high-level insiders who will discuss the transition to a new regulatory body and set the stage for the future of Ontario insurance regulation. Although it’s early days yet, the panel will discuss:

– What gave rise to the need for the creation of a new regulator in Ontario
– The likely implementation process of the new regulator
– What the overall future of Ontario insurance regulation could look like

Our panelists:
LEAH MYERS, Assistant Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Finance
KARIN OTS, Senior Vice-President, Regulatory and Government Relations, Aviva Canada
BARB TAYLOR, Director, Policy Ontario, Insurance Bureau of Canada
GEORGE COOKE, Member of the Advisory Committee reviewing the mandates of The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (TBC)

Moderated by DAVID SIMPSON, President and CEO, Facility Association
