Are you aware of what government funding is available for individuals and local governments? This seminar will provide a brief primer on BC’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) Program. For those working in the insurance industry it’s important to understand what funding is available from the provincial government and how this is linked to insurance services.

SEMINAR OBJECTIVES

  • Clarify the legislative framework for DFA 
  •  Outline when is a disaster eligible for DFA     
  • Identify who is eligible for DFA and what is and is not eligible for DFA
  • Discuss how DFA and insurance are linked with special consideration for overland flood insurance for residential homes
  • Review how the federal Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements help provinces with the costs of major disasters
  • Learn how the province responds to disasters, and what it is doing to reduce risks for future disasters
  •  Address the unique obstacles in providing disaster assistance on First Nation reserves
