Invictus Games 2017: Transforming Empathy into Empowerment

How the Games will inspire a nation and help to heal our ill and injured servicemen, women, veterans and their families

Join us to hear from the CEO for the Invictus Games 2017, Michael Burns. The Invictis Games are an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event, created by Britain’s Prince Harry, in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in various sports. Taking place in Toronto in September 2017, the Invictus Games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women.

This engaging presentation will give you an overview of the Games and what Canadians can expect between now and when the event arrives in Toronto – and how the Games will be historic for the country during Canada’s 150th anniversary. You’ll learn about the stress that the armed service places on both veterans and their families, and the impact that adaptive sport plays in the lives of those who are struggling with mental health issues and those battling back from severe physical injury.
