Tact, diplomacy and sensitivity are essential to effective communication. Today’s respectful workplace requires a much higher level of tact and sensitivity from all of us. A lack of tact is often met with defensiveness, resistance and a lack of cooperation. When we don’t communicate tactfully we often find that people are offended by what we’ve said or the way we’ve said it. People who are tactful tend to be good at influencing others. They have a greater ability to secure cooperation and secure commitment. These qualities come naturally to some people, for others they are learned behaviours. In this session you will learn why tact is important and why it needs to be a priority for everyone: what tact is, and how to become more tactful, more diplomatic and more sensitive to others in your communications.
