Canadian Insurance Services Provider Expands International Presence with Acquisition of a UK-Based Specialty Adjusting Firm

Edmonton, Alberta, March 22nd, 2010 Canadas largest insurance services provider, SCM Insurance Services, announced today the acquisition of AXIS Adjusters Europe Ltd (Axis), a specialty adjusting firm in the United Kingdom. AXIS will be the London-based European division of ClaimsPro, SCMs claims management and adjusting business division. The move also partnered SCM with AXIS Internationals operating branches across the globe. The acquisition of this London-based firm will serve as a springboard for SCMs strategic plan for long-term growth and expansion into the United Kingdom and International markets.
Larry Shumka, President & CEO of SCM Insurance Services confirms that the acquisition is a strategic move that allows SCM to further enhance services to clients doing business with Lloyds of London. Having a physical presence in London will help SCM augment relations for its domestic Lloyds clients, but will also offer enhanced services to Lloyds clients doing business in Canada. Axis has ongoing relationships with the Lloyds marketplace, and has a strong reputation as experts in the high-end, special-risk niche.
Based in London, England, Axis currently operates from several offices within the UK. Axis Executive Directors, Alistair Jacob and Norman Mitchell will continue to hold key management positions. The partnership between Axis and SCM is ideal because it aligns Axis specialization in processing large, complex claims and surveying, with SCMs existing range of insurance services. The acquisition will also place Axis in a favourable position for continued growth, as SCMs leading-edge claims technology will benefit both operations and clients significantly.
