Economical and Petline hold National Cupcake Day fundraisers for local animal shelters

WATERLOO, ON, February 28, 2017 — Pet loving employees at a dozen Economical and Petline offices from Halifax to Vancouver baked and sold cupcakes, raising nearly $7,000 for local SPCAs and humane societies that provide safe spaces for animals in communities across the country.
At Economical’s Head Office in Waterloo, a KW Humane Society canine ambassador brought in her tail-wagging canine friend, Maya, who used her puppy-dog eyes to encourage folks to open their wallets and treat themselves to a cupcake.
“It was a fun way to celebrate and welcome Petline and its flagship brand, Petsecure, into the Economical family of companies,” said Tom Reikman, SVP and Chief Operating Officer at Economical Insurance. “For more than 25 years, Petsecure has provided Canadian pet owners with comprehensive coverage to meet the needs of their cherished dogs and cats. The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies will receive a combined donation of $1,000 from Economical and Petline, supplementing the nearly $7,000 raised for local animal shelters at the 12 locations that held cupcake sales.
