WATERLOO, ON, July 3, 2018 /insPRESS/ – The Board of Directors of Heartland Farm Mutual Inc. is pleased to announce that following an extensive national search, Louis Durocher has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer effective July 9, 2018.
An actuary by profession, Mr. Durocher is a highly accomplished executive and leader in the property and casualty insurance sector. Most recently the Chief Risk Officer for Aviva Canada, he had overall responsibility for Risk, ORSA and relationships with regulators that include OSFI; he served as Advisor to all Board Committees: Audit, Risk, Investment and Pension. Previously, he led the company’s National Commercial Lines and Reinsurance department, having joined the company as Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary.
Before joining Aviva, Mr. Durocher held a number of senior positions with The Economical Insurance Group. As Vice President for their Quebec Region, he had overall P&L responsibility for La Missisquoi, the company’s $150 million operating business within the province. Under his leadership, a Strategic Plan was developed and executed, strengthening the organization’s IT infrastructure and improving relationships with the broker community.
Mr. Durocher has been an enthusiastic contributor to his profession and to the industry, serving on a number of Boards and Committees for the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Toronto Financial Services Alliance, the GAA and the PACICC.
Louis will bring to his responsibilities at Heartland a broad base of experience in all aspects of property and casualty insurance, gained in organizations recognized as leaders in the field. He relates enthusiastically to the values of Heartland with our focus on client and community relationships.
