Insurance Institute launches new management training program

December 7, 2009   by The CIP Society

The Insurance Institute, the industrys premier source for professional development, has once again updated existing services and added exciting new features via a new management training program called Essential Management Skills.

Essential Management Skills is designed to provide new and experienced managers with the concepts, tools and personal insights necessary to become truly effective in their roles. Through selfassessments, videos, discussion, individual and group activities, and reflection, the program covers how to transition into management, leadership styles, performance management, communication, delegation, interpersonal conflict and motivation. By the end of the three day, in-class course, managers will gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to lead their teams. They will leave the course:

equipped with the core skills required to meet the day-to-day challenges of leading others
knowing how to best adapt their personal style to meet the unique needs of each of their direct reports
better able to maximize the results they achieve through others

Essential Management Skills is a great opportunity for both new managers transitioning into their roles and experienced managers looking to update their skills, said Peter Hohman, president and CEO, Insurance Institute. Managers will gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to lead, so that they can evolve into a more effective leader.

Upcoming in-class course dates at the Insurance Institute in Toronto include January 20-22, February 24-26 and April 14-16. Essential Management Skills is also available in-house at organizations nation-wide, sufficient student numbers permitting. For more information, visit www.insuranceinstitute.ca/managementskills.
