TORONTO, March 19, 2018 /insPRESS/ – Following Markel’s March 15 announcement of ceasing property underwriting in the London open market, Markel Canada would like to assure its valued broker partners that this in no way affects its local property business. We will continue writing property insurance via our coverholder arrangements and within our own underwriting group for programs and chosen sectors under our local treaties.
Following a year of poor property results we have made adjustments to our property appetite to focus our attention to key sectors. We are continuing with our 2018 plans to release new property products to grow profitably in these sectors.
