Montreal, August 21, 2017 – WICC Québec is pleased to announce that Wawanesa Insurance has renewed their support as a “Commitment Sponsor” for WICC Quebec’s benefit gala event, by giving $25,000 over the next three years.
Wawanesa Insurance is already seen as highly committed to WICC, namely due to its status as one of its founding members and recognition as a national sponsor, however “One of the main reasons that motivated our decision to continue our involvement with WICC on a provincial level is that we wanted to recognize and support the great work accomplished by the WICC Québec Board members, who give their time to support the Canadian Cancer Society,” explained Claude Auclair, Vice-President, Québec region Wawanesa Insurance and honorary chairperson of the 2017 fundraising gala. “Contributing to the communities in which we work and live is very important to us at Wawanesa.”
“In addition to having a member of my family recently lose the battle to cancer, and another one who, thankfully, just completed cancer treatments with a very positive outlook, several members of our staff are also affected by this terrible disease either directly or indirectly. One question kept coming to my mind ‘what would be the results if we did more for all those living with cancer?’ Suddenly it became clear that we had to continue our support of WICC, ʺ added Claude Auclair.
“We are extremely proud and honoured to once again have Wawanesa Insurance as a steadfast sponsor over the next three years, with an even more generous contribution. Thanks to Wawanesa Insurance’s outstanding support and WICC’s other industry partners, we are in a stronger position to continue our efforts and make a real difference in the fight against cancer and we are most grateful to them,” noted Jean Bertrand and Samir Hasbani, co-chairs of WICC Québec.
“This is the perfect fit for Wawanesa as it also fulfills one of our company values. We are very happy and proud to renew our support of this very important cause,” concludes Claude Auclair.
Since its creation in 2008, WICC Québec has raised over $580,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society through its various activities, mainly its fundraising gala, which takes place every October. WICC – Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade was launched in 1996 in Ontario by a group of insurance industry professionals whose purpose has been to raise money for research and awareness initiatives developed by the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company was founded in 1896, in the village of Wawanesa, Manitoba. The Company has regional offices across Canada, in addition to activities in the United States. Wawanesa Insurance is one of the largest property & casualty insurers in Canada.
