Albert Poon new president of Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association; David Porter resigns

The Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (CIAA) has announced that Albert Poon, CIP, most recently CIAA’s 1st vice president, has assumed the role of CIAA national president, effective immediately.

Porter, who took over as president of the CIAA at the association’s Annual General Meeting and Conference August 21-24 in Quebec City, has resigned effective September 19, 2014. At the time of his appointment as CIAA president, Porter was vice president, western region for Granite Claims Solutions.

David PorterSince taking the reigns as CIAA president, Granite Claims Solutions was acquired by SCM Insurance Services and Porter is no longer with the firm. According to the association’s constitution, to be a part of the CIAA executive, an individual must be employed by a CIAA member firm.

“We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to David for his many years of dedicated service to our association,” notes the CIAA statement.

With Poon’s appointment as president, the CIAA makes clear that its “services and commitment to membership continues without interruption.”
