Applied Systems’ TAM 12 to support eDoc XML electronic document standard

Applied Systems Inc. announced Thursday the general release of version 12 of The Agency Manager (TAM), its software for insurance brokers and agents.

“For Canadian customers, it includes all-new capabilities for writing commercial lines policies,” Applied Systems stated in a press release. “TAM 12 supports the new Canadian eDoc XML standard from The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO), which allows for electronic documents to be transmitted in broker downloads.”

University Park, Illinois-based Applied Systems says it has also improved the French user interface.

Other features of version 12 include “enhanced integration” with Compu-Quote, which lets users attach a PDF file with carrier details, premiums summary and underwriting.

Applied Systems announced in June the acquisition of Windsor, Ont.-based Compu-Quote Inc., whose software includes applications that compare underwriting and rates for auto and property insurance.

For auto policies, Applied Systems says, release 12 will create a

default description in the activity note with year, make, model, total premium and premium per vehicle for an auto quote. It will also create the default location, total premium and premium per location for a property quote for Canadian brokers.

Applied Systems says TAM has a single-entry system, meaning data entered once in one part of the system will be created in the other parts. It also lets users view a customer file with all policies and issuing carriers in order to identify opportunities to renew and to sell additional services.

The vendor says TAM is designed so that one client file stores all policy components, which can be faxed and e-mailed.

TAM has an accounting and general ledger module which, the vendor says, can generate invoices and statements, track and reconcile agency payables, record payments and returns and build financial statements.
