Archway Insurance purchases H.S. Terris Insurance

Archway Insurance has enhanced its commitment to Nova Scotia’s Cumberland County, where its head office is located, with the purchase of Springhill-based H.S. Terris Insurance.

Effective Nov. 1, Amherst, N.S.-based brokerage announced Monday, the acquisition will build on its presence in the region, which it entered in 2015.

At that time, Archway Insurance – an independent, Atlantic-owned insurance brokerage that is among the largest in the region – established “an office under the management of well-known local broker Ed Pettigrew,” says Archway Insurance president Michael Stack.

The acquisition of H.S. Terris Insurance brings to 11 the number of Archway Insurance locations in Atlantic Canada, spanning from Yarmouth, N.S. to Miramichi, N.B. Archway Insurance has purchased dozens of brokerages across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick over the past decade, the brokerage statement notes.

Just this past March, the brokerage reported it had acquired Solutions Insurance Broker Inc. in Dieppe, N.B., thereby increasing its footprint in New Brunswick and enhancing the ability to serve its existing and future clients in both official languages.

The latest purchase involving H.S. Terris Insurance “was strategic, confirming Archway’s stronghold in Cumberland County,” the statement notes.

Saying that brokerage has received “great support from the local community,” Stack reports “it made sense to combine our office with Terris to better serve Springhill and area from one location, known as Archway Insurance – Cumberland.”

The current H.S. Terris Insurance location will be closing, with plans to move employees over to the Archway Insurance – Cumberland location. There will be no disruption or changes to policies for clients currently insured with H.S. Terris.

“Terris customers will continue to be serviced by an independently owned, local insurance brokerage,” Archway Insurance – Cumberland manager Ed Pettigrew says.

“Archway provides access to a wide selection of rates and services with the professional team and expertise to meet all our clients’ insurance needs be those personal, commercial, life or travel.”
