ATCO Electric, NAV Canada, Health Canada recognized for business continuity management

Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) Canada has recognized several Canadian organizations — ATCO Electric, NAV Canada and Health Canada — for their excellence in business continuity management (BCM).

The awards were announced on June 26 at a gala awards evening at the World Conference on Disaster Management in Toronto. DRI CANADA provides services in BCM education and certification.

To qualify for an Award of Excellence, organizations must demonstrate significant accomplishment in three professional areas: continuity management, technology recovery and crisis management.

Award entries were assessed by an evaluation team made up of experienced and recognized BCM professionals from various industries and governments across the country. The following three companies were recognized:

• ATCO Electric, headquartered in Edmonton, develops regulated distribution and transmission projects throughout Alberta.

• NAV Canada is a private, non-share capital corporation that owns and operates Canada’s civil air navigation service.

• Health Canada is the federal department responsible for helping Canadians to maintain and improve their health.
