Ready When the Time Comes recruits and trains corporate employees as disaster volunteers to provide assistance following natural disasters

Ready When the Time Comes recruits and trains corporate employees as disaster volunteers to provide assistance following natural disasters, including floods, house fires and forest fires, tornadoes, and extreme weather conditions, the Red Cross noted on its website. Their priority is to help the people affected by offering comfort and meeting their basic needs including shelter, food, clothing and personal items.

“This program provides a way for organizations to be involved in their communities by responding to community needs after a disaster,” the Red Cross said. “It also contributes an organization’s name and brand with the Canadian Red Cross – one of the world’s most trusted charitable organizations.”

The program was developed in 2001. Today, over 13,000 reservists are trained and ready to volunteer.
