Four high school students have been awarded top spot in the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia’s ‘Your Ad Here’ contest.
ICBC asked B.C. high school students in grades 8 through 11 to create print ads in one of three topics on road safety: impaired driving, speeding or distracted driving.
The contest, which saw more than 150 teenagers submit both hand-drawn and computer designed illustrations, aimed to get youth more involved in promoting road safety and helping raise awareness about the power of choice.
Prizes were awarded to the top winner in each region of B.C. whose ads will be featured in posters and in next year’s high school agendas.
First place winners included:
• Erik Cui, Burnaby Mountain Secondary, Burnaby;
• Jesmeen Deo, College Heights Secondary, Prince George;
• Casey Hesketh, Charles Bloom Secondary School, Lumby; and
• Josiah Stefani Dover Bay Secondary, Nanaimo.

Nina Pham, of W.J. Mouat Secondary in Abbotsford, was the Facebook fan winner. And the school participation winner went to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in Tumbler Ridge.
