Bryan Bedford has joined a long list of respected leaders in Canada’s insurance industry, becoming the latest recipient of the Emerging Leader honour from the Chartered Insurance Professionals’ (CIP) Society.

The CIP Society’s National Leadership Awards were created in 2009 to give prominence to the outstanding achievements of industry leaders dedicated to their employers, profession and community

The Emerging Leader category is part of the CIP Society’s National Leadership Awards, created in 2009 to give prominence to the outstanding achievements of industry leaders dedicated to their employers, profession and community.

The awards “give us an opportunity to shine a light on the achievements of members such as Bryan, who demonstrate outstanding leadership and contribute in all areas of their lives,” Julie Pingree, chair of the CIP Society National Council, says in a statement issued Thursday. Honourees are CIP Society members who uphold the values of the society and who raise the bar for the industry in their professionalism, integrity and work ethic, the statement notes.

He will be inducted into the CIP Society Leadership Circle at the Insurance Institute of Ontario – GTA convocation on January 21, 2016.

Bedford’s LinkedIn page notes that he holds both the Fellow Certified Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation and the Canadian Risk Management certification. He also received the Centenary Excellence Award as the top FCIP student across Canada in 2008-2009.

“Bryan has co-hosted web seminars, led numerous educational sessions for the broker distribution channel and has presented at leading insurance conferences,” the information states. With a dozen years of experience in insurance technology, marketing, strategic project management and implementation, he has also contributed to published articles on underwriting automation and real-time adoption in trade journals.

“The CIP Society is very pleased to provide an opportunity to celebrate Bryan’s achievement and to welcome him to the Leadership Circle, where he will join 31 previous honourees who share his passion for learning, dedication in the workplace and leadership in the industry and community,” Peter Hohman, president and CEO of the Insurance Institute of Canada, says in the statement.

The Leadership Circle includes those who have been honoured as both Established Leaders and as Emerging Leaders. In 2014, Johanne Lépine, Aon Reed Stenhouse’s executive vice president and leader, Eastern Canada, and Lynn Oldfield, president and CEO of AIG Canada, were recognized as Established Leaders; Adrian Osti, manager of learning and development at Northbridge Financial Corporation, was named Emerging Leader.
