Burns & Wilcox Canada adds new hire to its Toronto team

Burns and Wilcox Canada has announced that Lalita Mohabir has joined the company as senior personal accident underwriter in the  company’s Toronto office.

Mohabir brings more than 26 years of industry experience to Burns and Wilcox Canada and will lead the company’s personal accident team offering worldwide Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage on an individual or group basis. Mohabir has extensive international experience and will develop cross-border risk management strategies for Canadian brokers and their clients, the company said.

In her most recent role, Mohabir served for 12 years as a senior underwriter with William J. Sutton & Co. Ltd. In this capacity, she provided special risk assessment for a variety of prospective policy contracts, including rating and analysis for life and accident, disability, expatriate major medical insurance, and special contingency policies.

Prior to joining William J. Sutton & Co., Mohabir spent 15 years with Unum Provident, where she served as an underwriting consultant responsible for prospective special risk policy contracts at the individual and group/corporate level. Her areas of expertise include accidental death and dismemberment, kidnap and ransom, extortion, disability, and expatriate medical insurance.

Mohabir holds a Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) License and is skilled in risk analysis, development and research, and policy and documentation interpretation. Her professional designations include: Principles and Practice of Insurance – Parts I and II Foundation of Customer Service (ACS); LOMA – 280, 290, 320 ; HIAA – Parts A, B and C (Group); HIAA – Parts A and B (Individual); HIAA – Long Term Care; HIAA – Manage Care (Part A); HIAA – Manage Care (Part B).
