Eighty Co-operators agents in central and northern Alberta are banding together to hold a food drive to help the residents of Slave Lake.
Non-perishable food items can be donated to the Slave Lake food bank at participating Co-operators offices until Aug. 1, 2011. Westfreight will donate a truck and driver to deliver the donations to Slave Lake.
“The people of Slave Lake are nothing if not resilient,” says Sherry Watty, a Co-operators agent in Slave Lake who lost her home and vehicle in the fire. She continues to work out of her office, which survived the blaze.
“The food bank currently has a lot of donations, but we want to make sure that remains the case a few months from now. Albertans and Canadians have been incredibly generous in doing what they can to help this community out, and we’ll always be grateful for their kindness.”
