CRU Group acquires Maltmans insurance claims services firm

CRU Group Inc. announced Wednesday it has acquired the shares of Toronto-based insurance claims services firm Maltman Group International.

“The partners of Maltmans, Tom Dorey, Craig Walker, Randy Ffrench and John Breese will be integral to the continued success of the business,” stated Markham, Ont.-based CRU Group (whose operations include independent claims adjusting firm Catastrophe Response Unit Inc.) in a press release.

CRU acquires MaltmansMaltmans’ services include loss adjusting and claims administration in specialty lines, directors’ and officerrs’ liability, professional liability, and errors and omissions. Maltmans founded in 1949 by Fred Maltman.

“The Maltmans team going forward will be lead by CRU Group Executive Carol Jardine with the strong support of the Maltmans partners and team,” CRU stated. Jardine has previously served as senior vice president of claims services at TD Insurance, and president and chief operating officer of both Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company in British Columbia and CUMIS General Insurance Company.

CRU ” includes the Academy of Insurance Adjusters (AIA), the Catastrophe Response Unit Inc. and CRU Environmental Services,” CRU Group Inc. stated in a release. The group’s owners are Gary and Kyle Winston.

In addition to its Markham office, CRU Group also has offices in Calgary, Gulf Breeze, Florida and Ardmore, Oklahoma. AIA offers training in adjusting auto, property and environmental claims, as well as Xactimate software, among others.

Last October, CRU held an earthquake response seminar in Toronto.
