Dealing with the media during catastrophes is featured at the June 2012 IMCA conference in Denver

Communicating with the media during catastrophe coverage is one among several feature events headlining 2012 Insurance Marketing and Communications Association Annual Conference in Denver on June 24-27.

The conference draws marketing and communications insurance professionals from across North America.

The event will feature Jerry Davies, assistant vice president of media and public relations for Farmers Insurance, speaking on the importance of preparation and empathy when facing “the eye of the media storm” during a catastrophic event.

Keynote speaker Ken Crerar, president and CEO of The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB), will kick off the conference with his insights into the insurance industry.

Don Hurzeler, author and retired CEO and president of Zurich Insurance Middle Markets, will discuss the importance of insurers differentiating themselves.

A panel discussion on trends in insurance marketing will include Hans Heukelum, senior vice president of global marketing and communications at Aon Risk Solutions, Sarah German, vice president of communications and marketing at XL Group, and Frank Thompson, vice president of marketing at Shelter Insurance.
