Automaker Honda has issued a recall for more than 52,000 minivans and SUVs in Canada and hundreds of thousands more worldwide for a roll-away risk.

The company has issued the recall for its 2003-04 Odyssey and Pilot models. The recall also affects the 2003 to 2006 Acura MDX model years.

The problem relates to the the ignition interlock blocking mechanism, which could become damaged if excessive force is applied to the ignition key.

That means it may become possible for the driver to remove the ignition key when the gear selector is in a position other than the park position, which could allow the vehicle to roll away.

Honda dealers will install an updated ignition interlock lever and replace the ignition lock cylinder if necessary.
