Hub adds Alabama arm

Broker consolidator Hub International had added yet another brokerage to its stable, this time in Alabama. Hub’s Michigan-based brokerage Burnham Insurance Group has purchased Warner Associates Inc. of Montgomery, Alabama. Terms of the cash deal were not disclosed.
Warner, a 20-year-old business, specializes in direct marketing life and health insurance to retail customers of financial institutions and will add to Burnham’s existing financial institutions group. The brokerage will remain in Montgomery, under the leadership of chairman and CEO Darrel Warner, who will also become a vice president at Burnham.
“The Warner purchase, following closely on our McCarthy group’s purchase of Trussell, further demonstrates how we are executing an important element of our growth strategy – expanding on the strengths of our regional brokerages by adding successful local agencies that focus on a particular market segment or coverage discipline,” says Bruce D. Guthart, president of Hub’s U.S. operations.
