IBC appoints Allstate’s Michael Donoghue as chair of its board

The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has appointed Michael J. Donoghue, the president and CEO of the Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, as the chair of its board of directors.
Rowan Saunders, the president and CEO of Royal & SunAlliance Canada, has been appointed deputy chair of the IBCs board.
Donoghue is a vice president of the Allstate Corporation (USA). In his current assignment, he is accountable for the Allstate Canada group of companies property and casualty insurance business, including the Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, Pembridge Insurance Company and Pafco Insurance Company. He has worked with Allstate for 35 years, spanning assignments in both Canada and the United States.
Donoghue is currently on the IBCs board of directors, serving as chair for the insurance crime and claims committees. He is a member of The American Chamber of Commerce in Canada and serves on the Ontario Council.
He is actively involved on the York Region United Way Cabinet and is a member of the Circle of Champions for Torontos Mentoring Partnership.
Saunders joined Royal & SunAlliance in 1987 and was appointed to the position of president and CEO of Royal & SunAlliance Canada in September 2003.
He is chair of IBCs governance improvement committee and is a member of the national auto insurance strategic committee. He also serves as a board member of the Facility Association and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction.
