The Insurance Institute of Canada has elected T. Neil Morrison of Hub International Ltd. as the new chair of its board of governors.

Morrison, executive vice president of operations at Hub, was elected at the Institute’s annual general meeting last month in Winnipeg. Morrison is based in Toronto.

For six years prior to his current role, he served as president and CEO of HUB International HKMB Ontario. He was elected deputy chairman of institute in November 2013.

In an announcement released Wednesday from the institute, Morrison said ongoing insurance education for property and casualty insurance professionals is a “critical and necessary investment” to satisfy the changing needs, demands and expectations of clients and stakeholders.

“Whether exploring new ways to deliver products and services in a digital world, or uncovering coverage options for evolving risks, Canadian property and casualty insurance professionals can’t afford to allow their knowledge and skills to become static,” he said.

“The Insurance Institute of Canada attracts, retains and prepares the best and brightest future industry leaders with a broad offering of relevant and robust continuing education courses.”
