Starting Aug. 1, the public can make donations to the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) at all 600 LCBO stores throughout Ontario.
Donation boxes for TIRF will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until Aug. 31.
“We thank the LCBO, its employees and customers for providing this opportunity,” TIRF president and CEO Robyn Robertson, says in a press release. “The LCBO’s province-wide store network is a very effective way for us to raise awareness and funds for our organization.”
Established in 1964, TIRF’s mission is to reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries. The Foundation designs, promotes, and implements programs and policies based on its research.
TIRF’s research focuses on the problem of drinking and driving. In particular, it monitors changes in the magnitude of drinking and driving; identifies high-risk groups of drinking drivers; and identifies cost-effective meaningful solutions.
“We are pleased to partner with TIRF,” LCBO acting chair and CEO Philip J. Olsson says. “LCBO’s customers have always responded generously to worthy causes, and we thank them for providing a positive change in so many peoples’ lives.”
TIRF thanks the public for its support when shopping at their local LCBO store during August.
