Lloyd’s syndicate AEGIS London has launched a new claims service for Canadian coverholders, in partnership with disaster restoration firm FirstOnSite.
The offering, which rolled out as a pilot this month in Canada, allows for “rapid collection and transmission of information directly from the scene of a loss to a dedicated, specialist office-based claims examiner,” according to AEGIS.
The FirstOnSite team uses tablet technology to transmit inspection reports, photographs and project management information from the loss scene to the examiner.
“This is a genuinely new service offering to the Canadian coverholder market,” said Spencer Shusterman, senior vice president of claims in Canada for AEGIS in London.
“We believe this faster, more efficient service will be of great benefit to our coverholders and ultimately to our policyholders,” Shusterman said.
“It enables rapid decision-making and allows efforts to mitigate damages to begin immediately, often without the need for an intermediate field adjuster report – and we all know that the quicker restoration and mitigation can begin, the faster the claim is closed and the lower the costs incurred.”
AEGIS London has been active in Canada since 2001, building up a network of coverholder relationships and a sizeable portfolio of commercial business.
The business opened its Canadian operation in Toronto in 2011. It operates as AEGIS London Syndicate 1225 in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market.
